Did you Mrs. me?

I hope you haven’t forgotten about me. You may have been wondering where I have been since I haven’t posted on the blog since August!! If you follow me on Instagram and Facebook (and you should!) then you already know why I have been MIA. If you don’t follow me, then you probably have no idea that I got late acceptance into the Bachelor of Education program that I had applied to in the spring (and had been put on the waitlist) and I am officially a student teacher!

Just me, climbing my way to the top! #cantstopwontstop

I got the call two days after classes had begun, and started a week behind everyone else. My first day was a 12-hour wilderness retreat with my classmates at the beautiful education centre at McQueen Lake in Kamloops. It was definitely a day to remember. My classmates were so welcoming and warm, and invited me right into the group. That’s the great thing about being in a cohort, your classmates become a second family. We all have similar goals and hobbies, yet are so different and unique. We all have something special to bring to the table and it’s an incredible dynamic that we have within the classroom.

Officially a Student Teacher:

Grade 2

During October and November, I spent one day a week in my first practicum in a grade 2 class. It was so exciting to actually be up in front of the kids teaching lessons that I had created myself. We talked about peace and how to be kind to one another, we practiced asking each other open-ended questions to build relationships and conversational skills, and we wrote postcards to share our knowledge about different places around the world. Being in the classroom and seeing the wonder on these kids’ faces when they learned something new or when something they had been struggling with finally clicked just completely reinforced my desire and dedication to becoming an educator. And I’m already 1/4 of the way to making my dream a reality.

In addition to officially becoming a student teacher, I also started working as a copywriter for a social media agency based out of Kamloops. I replied to an online ad in a facebook group that I am a part of called Girlcrush Collective and it turned out to be the perfect side hustle for me. My boss, Alaysha, is an amazing woman who is incredibly talented at social media management, among other things. I remember the day that we met and she interviewed me via video chat and was getting ready to go quit her 9-5 that day to pursue her passions and grow her business. I was so incredibly inspired by her that I knew I wanted to join her on her path to success.

And she is killing it!

And I love my job!

It allows me to work from home, on my own schedule, and embrace my creative side. If you have been thinking about social media management for your blog or small business, or have no idea what it even is and want to learn more, make sure you head to Lindenco.ca and sign up for a free consultation with this incredible woman (and don’t forget to mention that Mrs. Mum sent you!)

Father and son
My handsome men!

So now that I’m a student teacher AND working part-time I have had to re-prioritize life and figure out how to balance these new responsibilities with being a mom. And let me tell you, it hasn’t been easy. Every moment of free time that I have had has been devoted to my beautiful little family.

Kendrick has been growing like a weed and is already wearing size 3T clothes (he’s not even 2 yet!) He loves to run around and chase his dog, climb all over the furniture, and get into all sorts of trouble. And that’s why I haven’t had time to write anything for the blog. BUT! Now that I am settled in to being a mom/wife/student-teacher, I intend to make more time to post on the blog. My goal is to post at least once a month to update you all on my journey. In addition, I am going to be working on some super-fun, top-secret projects for the blog, so stay tuned to find out what I have in store for 2019 and all the fun I’m going to have now that I’m officially a student teacher!
